4 Weeks Before Packing Day |

Tour your house and decide which items should be discarded or donated to charity. |
|
Check all electrical appliances to ascertain if the voltage system is the same as your destination country. Also have a thorough clean out. Consider a garage sale. |
|
Obtain your family's dental and health records from your doctors. |
|
Notify the school that your children are currently attending and inform them of your relocation. Collect letters of introduction and children school records. |
|
Give notice to cancel any newspapers, magazines, bread, milk deliveries. |
|
Make travel plans and hotel reservation, including air ticket. |
|
|
3 Weeks Before Packing Day |
|
Plan to use up most of your food items before the move. |
|
Check and clear tax assessments. |
|
Arrange to have major appliances serviced before you move them. |
|
Visit your Post Office to sign up for redirection service, so that your mails will be directed to the preferred new address. |
|
Advise friends, colleagues, family of your change of address. |
|
Notify your banks, credit card, insurance and hire purchase companies to have the accounts closed or transferred. |
|
|
2 Weeks Before Packing Day |
|
Decide which items you'll pack, and which ones you'd like us to pack. If you have some items to store or some to go by air, it is important that you label it before the packers arrives to avoid any mix-up. |
|
For items ‘not going', please remove or place these items in one corner or in the spare room. Use our ‘Do Not Remove' sticker on the large items that you do not wish to take. |
|
Return library books and other things you've borrowed. Collect things you've loaned, and items in self-storage, etc. |
|
Arrange to close bank accounts and release all bank deposits. |
|
Protect your shipment from damage by disposing of such flammables as gasoline, fireworks, matches, cleaning fluids, bottled gas; also aerosols, acids, caustic drain cleaners, etc. |
|
Any fixtures fasten to the wall that requires packing or additional fixtures not belonging to the landlord, should be taken down. |
|
Remind your spouse to bring home any items that he/she has in the office that require packing. |
|
Draw up a floor plan of your new home, and indicate placement of furnishings. It makes moving twice as easy. |
|
We are not permitted to take down TV antennas. We can arrange to have it done if you wish. Provide sufficient notice to your Service Providers to disconnect your telephone, internet, cable TV. |
|
|
1 Week Before Packing Day |
|
Place things you want to be packed together in separate areas, for example, air, sea, storage, items not going, etc to avoid any mix-ups. |
|
Anything we're packing should be left in its original place. It's easier and safer, for example, to pack glassware right from the cabinet that it's kept in. |
|
Movers can't take aerosols, flammables or ammunition. It's best to use them up or give them away before you move. Propane tanks must be emptied. |
|
|
1 Day Before Moving |
|
Defrost, clean and dry refrigerator & freezer. Recommend to air dry for at least 24 hours. |
|
Set aside games, snacks, books and other items to occupy the children while travelling. |
|
Plan to carry passport, air tickets, important documents and valuables with you. |
|
Pack suitcases, includes all items you will need until the arrival of your shipment. Be sure not to pack your passport. |
|
Arrange for Singapore Power to read your gas, water and electricity meters and arrange the refund of your balance deposit. |
|
|
Packing Day |
|
Being organized will make sure everything goes smoothly. Be sure to stay in your residence throughout the move to give helpful directions and answer our crew enquiries. |
|
Carry all your valuables and important papers with you. All others valuables (ie. cash, jewelery, watches, pens, etc) should be removed and placed under lock before the packers arrive. |
|
Make a final check room by room to make sure nothing is left behind. Once everything is loaded, sign the inventory list and keep a copy. |
|
Be sure that we have the full address, contact number at both origin and destination. |
|
Contact your Interport consultant to make sure you have the final invoice and settle all payment prior departure. If this is not possible, advice the moving consultant prior packing day. |
